The Nordica Unleashed series is the latest release from one of the premier ski companies in the industry. Riding the success of the Enforcer/Santa Ana line, the Unleashed was designed with the modern freeskier in mind, sporting a variety of characteristics that make it an ideal ski for the rigors and variety of the terrain here at Jackson. This year we will be carrying the 108, which falls on the line of one ski quiver for some, powder ski for others. Regardless of its application, the Unleashed delivers uncompromising performance in nearly all conditions.

      I was able to ski the 108 last season and really loved its stability at speeds without compromising too much maneuverability when you had to shut speed down in tighter terrain. The stiffness of the tails provides a ton of support while a softer but not too soft nose allows the ski to float and dance in powder, giving the ski a surprisingly playful feel.

      Ski profile-wise, the Unleashed employs the popular rocker-camber-rocker shape, but with a much longer camber section and steeper tip and tail rocker than other skis in it's category. The long camber provides excellent edge hold and dampness on firm snow/groomers and also supports the rockered tip and tail preventing frustrating chatter. The Unleashed uses one sheet of "Terrain-specific" metal in it's core that gives different widths in the line a unique feel. On the narrower skis like the Unleashed 90 and 98, the sheet of metal comprises a greater part of the surface area of the ski, giving them a stiffer feel and hard-snow orientation, while the 108 and 114 retain a softer more playful feel. All models come with a layer of carbon fiberglass to stiffen the ski without sacrificing weight.

      The Unleashed is an awesome new ski that we're really excited to have available for demo and purchase. Overall I'd recommend it to the high intermediate-expert rider who spends the majority of the time off-piste in treed, powdery or steep terrain. Ideal conditions for this ski will be storm days and the couple days following a storm where blasting through chopped up snow and finding powder stashes are the objective.
